Odegaard pressure
Pundit Rio Ferdinand expects the Arsenal armband to impact Martin Odegaard during the coming season. The Norwegian has taken over as the Gunners’ official captain, after responsibilities were briefly handed to Alexandre Lacazette following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s exit last season.
Lacazette has since rejoined Lyon on a free transfer, taking over as skipper for the Ligue 1 side. That means Arsenal were able to appoint a new full-time captain, and Odegaard is the man who has been chosen after an impressive first full season in north London.
“Yep! [The captain’s armband weighs] heavy!” Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel. “I said that in the group chat. It could be a different Odegaard this year.”
